Keelin, 1 week old today

Keelin is amazing! She's brilliant, talented, creative, and the cutest girl in the universe. Her doc said she looks fabulous, healthy and happy. She's also been easy to care for, eats well, sleeps well, and if she cries we can usually figure out the reason and fix it up for her. It already feels like she has always been here with us.

Michael and I are doing pretty well too, largely because my Mom has been here every day spending time with Keelin so we can sleep, and running errands for us. It's been great watching her and Keelin have fun together. Next Tuesday, Grandma Bonnie gets here, and next Friday, Michael's Aunt Carol gets here, so there will be a whole crew to play with her.

She's Daddy's girl, already learning to 'scuba kick', and she's ready for the swell to die down a bit so she can get in the water. (thanks to Carl and Lora for the new gear!).

She likes the swing that Jen and Kalani gave us, and the new glider out on the front porch (Mom gave that to her). Walks are fun too, but it's a toss-up if she'll nap through them.

The bottom picture is my arm looking pretty beat up. It took more than a few tries to get me set up with an IV.

39 weeks, doctor appointment

Saw the doctor today at 39 weeks and 1 day. I'm 1 cm dilated, and 50% effaced. Ready to go! The doctor talked about what we might do if I went past my due date, but I'm being optimistic that won't happen. Each measurement of the baby that has been taken along the way has supported my due date, or indicated 1-2 days early. I'd be willing to bet (but not actually pay out) that the birthday is on or before 4/24.

38-39 weeks

Saw the doctor at 38 weeks and 1 day. I was a tiny bit dilated, and 20% effaced, which means I'm officially in early labor.

Today is 39 weeks, and I'm still ready! The baby practices tai chi a lot, and everything feels very pressurized. I'm hoping the doc apt tomorrow reveals that I'm much farther along with dilation/effacement, and that contractions start soon. We can't wait to find out if the baby is Keelin, or Killian -- the suspense is rising! But, the full 40-week due date is not until next Tuesday 4/22, so it might be a long week. I firmly believe the baby won't be later than 40 weeks.

Foiled again

The baby safety book suggested laying foil in the crib, to discourage the cat from hopping in and cuddling with the baby. The book said cats wouldn't like the noise of the foil. Ccino, however, thought it was cool. He really likes the seafood mural too, he goes in there a lot and wanders around the room.

35 weeks pregnant

I'm posting this late, but we took the pic so might as well put it up. 35 weeks, not too much different from the 33-week shot. At this point, I started feeling really pregnant!
